EKPAN COMMUNITY RISE IN PROTEST AGAINST HIGH CHIEF NEWTON AGBOFODO THE DETAINED UNUEVWORO OF EKPAN
A massive protest erupted against HIGH CHIEF NEWTON AGBOFODO the arrested UNUEVWORO Of the community in the early hours of Friday 15th July 2016 at Ekpan community as members of the community all gathered at the townhall with placards bearing various inscriptions such as "WE DON'T WANT A SERIAL KILLER AS UNUEVWORO" "CHIEF NEWTON MUST GO JAIL"
The protest which lasted for several hours disrupted commercial activities in the community as shops and businesses remained closed as the protesters marched and sang through the major roads until the arrived at the Ovie of Effurun Uvwie palace where they made their demands known through various speakers.
The Ovie Of Uvwie kingdom Abe the 1st on his part asked the protesters to remain calm and go about their lawful activities as the palace will look into the matter.
