“The Chase”
"As the deer pants [longingly] for the water brooks, So my soul pants [longingly] for You, O God. My soul (my life, my inner self) thirsts for God, for the living God. When will I come and see the face of God”
-Psalm 42:1-2 (AMP)
Everyone is chasing one thing or the other, there is a quest in the average man for power, money, fame etc , he wants to achieve so much, the search is always on and even though there is nothing wrong with dreaming and setting goals, we need to be careful as children of God to make sure we are not chasing the wrong things.
Our text today clearly states what the authentic chase is meant to be for us; we are supposed to be God Chasers, a lot of people start out chasing after God, but along the line, their attention changes and they begin to chase after the wrong things.
A lot of people today are even in churches because they need a miracle, they are faithful in church because they want God to do something for them, and surely as soon as they get the job, or the baby comes, or they get married, their commitment dwindle.
When prayer meeting is called for breakthroughs, the meetings are filled to the brim, but when it’s for intercession for our nations etc, the meetings are rarely attended. The true test of godly quest is when you serve HIM, without any strings attached, when you serve as if there are no benefits to it, when you give the whole of yourself to HIM, without hoping to get something back. Jesus questioned Peter three times after His resurrection about his love for Him, is your love for God pure? Or are you serving Him because they told you He will solve all your problems, and oh yes, He is more than able to solve your problems, but God is seeking for those who love Him for who He is and not just what He can do.
Ask yourself today; if there was nothing I need from God, if I had the power to make everything I want happen, will I still serve and follow Him? The truth is that it is sweeter and easier to just chase and love God for who He is and what just what He can do.
Have a brilliant Weekend!
